Data Strategist
TEKsystems, Schaumburg, IL, United States
One North is a digital experience agency that combines curiosity, scale, and agility to shape the future. As part of TEKsystems, a leading provider of business and technology services, we offer boutique solutions to solve complex problems. Our multidisciplinary teams of strategists, designers, and technologists excel in research and discovery, experience strategy, design, experience management, and technology implementation. Whether clients are establishing a vision for an experience or optimizing an existing one, we help businesses understand their audiences, design experiences, maximize technology, and bring their digital ideas to life. The world’s most successful companies rely on us to forge the future through electrifying work that sparks innovation and drives results.
Here’s what the opportunity supported through our TEKsystems Global Services (TGS) Talent Acquisition Team requires:
Position Overview One North's Data Strategy team partners with organizations to unlock the value in their data — transforming how they make decisions, engage audiences, and operate. We work at the intersection of strategy, technology, and creativity, helping clients move from data collection to data‑driven action.
As a Data Strategist, you'll serve as a trusted advisor and hands‑on practitioner for our clients. You'll help define what questions data should answer, build the systems to answer them, and guide organizations toward smarter, more confident decision‑making. This role sits at the center of our cross‑functional agency — collaborating with UX, Design, Technology, and Campaign teams to ensure data informs everything we do.
We operate in shades of gray. Our clients don't always know what they need — you'll help them figure it out, then build it. The ideal candidate is equal parts strategist, analyst, and curious technologist who thrives on ambiguity and brings structure to complexity.
The Data Strategist will be based remotely near Chicago for a light hybrid onsite/remote work model at our downtown Chicago office.
What You’ll Do Strategic Advisory
Serve as a strategic data partner for long‑term client relationships, helping translate business goals into data‑driven roadmaps
Identify gaps in the customer and data experience, then develop and present actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders
Research emerging tools, techniques, and AI capabilities — proactively bringing relevant innovations to clients
Analysis & Insight
Dive into unfamiliar datasets and systems to surface meaningful patterns, opportunities, and risks
Develop and maintain SQL queries across platforms such as Google BigQuery to power reporting and analysis
Design and build dashboards and data visualizations in Power BI, Tableau, or Looker that drive genuine decision‑making — not just reporting
AI & Modern Data Practices
Help clients explore and adopt LLM‑powered tools and AI agents that improve their data practices and operational workflows
Balance innovation with governance — guiding clients on responsible AI adoption, data quality, and risk management
Stay ahead of the curve on generative AI, agentic workflows, and emerging data infrastructure trends
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with UX Strategists and Designers to translate user needs into data product requirements — from dashboards to operational applications
Collaborate with Technologists, Creatives, and Campaign strategists to ensure data informs design, content, and experience decisions
Communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and confidently to both technical and non‑technical audiences
What You Bring
2 or more years of experience in marketing analytics, strategy, consulting, or a related data‑focused discipline
Strong strategic instincts — you can move fluidly between defining the problem, designing the approach, and executing the solution
Can think on your feet and find ways forward when the room gets stuck
Strong presentation skills— you will be in charge of creating presentations and communicating effectively
SQL skills; comfort diving into new schemas, platforms, and data ecosystems
Experience building and deploying dashboards in BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, or Looker)
Familiarity with AI and LLM tools and a genuine curiosity about their application in data workflows
