
Underwriting Specialist (Commercial P&C)

Position Summary
Responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of new and renewal accounts, ensuring informed risk selection and pricing decisions in alignment with profitability goals and underwriting guidelines. Cultivates relationships with agency partners to support successful negotiations, drive new business growth, and maintain portfolio quality.
Hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 from home. Available offices: Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Tampa, FL.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and apply underwriting judgment to price and negotiate large and complex accounts in alignment with Amerisure risk evaluation process and renewal framework.
Assess and select new business opportunities that align with Amerisure’s profitability goals and risk appetite.
Provide service excellence to agency partners, adhering to established service standards to support agency relationships and business objectives.
Develop and maintain relationships with key agency contacts to enable successful negotiation and ensure successful account acquisition and retention.
Attain established underwriting performance metrics for both new and renewal accounts.
Maintain organized and thorough underwriting documentation in accordance with Amerisure’s standards and guidelines; utilize underwriting tools to effectively support risk assessment and decision‑making.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
3 or more years underwriting experience in commercial middle market insurance with exposure to large and complex accounts.
CIC, CPCU, AU designations preferred.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external customers.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi‑task and prioritize workload; strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Ability to travel up to 10%.
