Job Summary This opportunity is for our Alterity Group, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of NFP. Alterity is a leading consulting firm that offers advisory services designed to meet the unique needs of private equity firms, employer groups, HR outsourcing organizations (PEO and ASO), and brokers. We help clients navigate the constantly evolving landscape of employee benefits and insurance.

The Consultant/Sr. Consultant performs all facets of consulting work, including client management, project execution, oversight of junior members, and delivery of client and organizational needs. Work is focused on managing broker relationships on behalf of clients, not on placing insurance or negotiating with carriers. Responsibilities include setting the direction of client work, managing relationships, delivering service outputs, cross‑selling services, and mentoring junior peers. Client profiles include Lender Review, Private Equity, nursing homes, municipals, property management, contractors, manufacturers, and others.

This is a full‑time position. We are seeking a candidate who can work a hybrid schedule from our Amherst/Buffalo or Rochester, NY offices. Remote work may be considered for well‑experienced Commercial Lines candidates able to work an EST schedule, provided they maintain a private workspace with reliable high‑speed internet and respond promptly during work shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage a mix of Outsourced Risk Management and Lender Review clients.

Develop and maintain strong client relationships.

Serve as primary contact for key clients and ensure fulfillment of contracted services.

Direct and supervise work performed by junior associates.

Perform P&C analysis, including insurance program reviews, remarketing strategy, claim analysis, and request for proposals.

Develop actionable programs and projects with detailed timelines and milestones.

Network within NFP for resources and subject‑matter experts as needed.

Assist with client cross‑sale and sales within Alterity P&C and Benefits.

Ensure delivery of client deliverables with defined benchmarks and annual stewardship reporting.

Utilize Alterity CRM and platforms to perform work.

Participate in technical or operational committees and contribute to procedure development to improve risk management processes and client deliverables.

Work effectively in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment and fulfill all consulting service aspects on assigned accounts.

Possess broad knowledge of property and casualty markets.

Demonstrate strong technical and financial acumen for data analysis and interpretation.

Write clear, concise, and persuasive reports and correspondence.

Apply critical thinking, problem‑solving, and service‑oriented mindset.

Desire to expand insurance knowledge and pursue designations.

Prioritize and self‑manage workload.

Exhibit professional gravitas and strong negotiating skills.

Accommodate limited travel when required.

Education and/or Experience

Four‑year college or university degree preferred.

Ideally 8+ years of P&C‑related experience with an insurance carrier, consultant/broker, or in a risk‑management position; experience with Lender Review clients is a plus.

In‑depth knowledge of insurance coverages and the ability to communicate this clearly to clients and underwriters.

Experience with EPIC or other CRM platforms preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Registration

Property & Casualty License required upon hire.

Additional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or CRIS are a plus.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 – $110,000.00, determined by experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level, scope, and geographic location. Additional performance‑based incentives may be available.
