Position Summary The Senior SEO Manager position is mostly independent and regularly pushes the team forward. Senior SEO Managers work with limited support from the Director or SEO Team Lead to develop strategies and tactics that support client goals, build and maintain strong, deep client relationships, troubleshoot issues independently and with support, implement and test new capabilities to enable client growth, lead junior analysts, train new hires, identify opportunities to integrate AI, and support client services during the sales process for upsells and new business.
Responsibilities
Develop strategies and tactics that support client goals and drive strong organic marketing performance
Build and maintain strong, deep client relationships with day‑to‑day contacts and senior stakeholders to ensure high client retention and growth
Troubleshoot minor to complex client issues independently, with support on complex issues
Implement and test new capabilities to enable client growth
Support the Director or Team Leads in training new team members
Provide temporary support and contribute to client services deliverables during the business‑development process for upsells and new business
Develop strong relationships with clients and senior stakeholders
Attend and participate in all meetings/calls with clients
Communicate effectively with various audiences with occasional support
Create and present insightful, meaningful, accurate reports and analyses with support on complex issues
Execute the Workshop Digital client flag process and proactively identify resolutions
Go the extra mile for assigned clients within the scope of the SOW
Proactively seek and gratefully accept feedback
Tactfully share feedback with colleagues
Immediately inform the Director or SEO Team Lead of any concerns or issues from clients when appropriate
Inform the Director or SEO Team Lead of any updates, concerns, or potential points of interest from within the digital marketing community
Share meaningful information that advances the team
Participate in the interview process
Lead special projects with support
Identify new opportunities for clients to meet their business goals
Independently identify opportunities for potential case studies and coordinate with marketing for case‑study development
Manage beta tests of new services for client set
Support the sales team by assisting with RFPs, presentations, audits, and SOWs
Elevate client requests for SOW changes with minimal support
Regularly identify opportunities to update and expand training content
Regularly develop original technical training content with QA
Regularly conduct team trainings to help develop team expertise
Read industry blogs, books, whitepapers, and articles to stay current on relevant tactics, updates, and best practices
Occasionally contribute thought leadership content to the Workshop Digital blog and the industry
Serve as a mentor for junior team members
Optimize client websites through technical and content updates with minimal support on complex issues
Perform keyword research, analyze and report on competitor and keyword data to clients with minimal support on complex issues
Claim, update, optimize, and manage local listings for clients with minimal support on complex issues
Write, optimize, and syndicate content on behalf of clients with minimal support on complex issues
Generate and plan content ideas for clients including blog ideas, articles, or any other content with minimal support on complex issues
Conduct comprehensive technical, content, and local audits with minimal support on complex issues
Optimize client websites through conversion‑rate optimization (CRO) with minimal support on complex issues
Create and prioritize strategies and supporting tactics that embody clients’ business goals with minimal support on complex issues
Take ownership and accountability of client performance by meeting and exceeding client expectations and KPIs with minimal support on complex issues
Setup and review Google Analytics (and any other third‑party tracking software) with minimal support on complex issues
Identify potential threats, changes in landscape, industry updates, and potential opportunities for client accounts and present these to clients with minimal support on complex issues
Conduct ongoing tests that drive toward growth and achieving client goals with minimal support on complex issues
Temporarily take on extra client hours to support the team during times of limited bandwidth

Qualifications
5+ years of experience executing hands‑on SEO work for high‑complexity clients
Demonstrated ability handling complex and challenging clients with respect to:
Identifying revenue‑impacting KPIs and setting SMART KPI goals
Extensive keyword research acumen leveraged to develop thoughtful content strategy
Prioritizing workload with minimal support
Building strong relationships
Creating insightful, actionable, and accurate insights for client strategies and reports with minimal support
Presenting data and insights in a clear, actionable way with minimal support
Creating effective meeting agendas and leading client meetings with minimal support
Delivering core training
Logging assigned client hours worked
Meeting deadlines
Advanced and courteous written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Familiarity with AI‑native search engines and LLM‑based research tools (e.g., Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, or ChatGPT)
Demonstrated ability to evaluate AI output for “hallucinations” or inaccuracies, specifically regarding technical SEO recommendations and data reporting
Advanced analytical capabilities; rarely needs support for advanced analysis and insights
Occasionally provides training to other team members
Sometimes identifies and implements initiatives that push the team and the company forward
Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite, particularly in Excel and Google Sheets
