The part‑time Media Designer supports Pima Community College’s Marketing, Communications & Strategic Outreach (MCSO) department by designing and producing high‑quality visual materials for print, digital, web, social media, and environmental applications. The position helps ensure that all creative assets align with the College’s brand, ADA accessibility standards, and institutional goals. Responsibilities include layout design, illustration, photography support, digital asset creation, and visual problem‑solving to advance recruitment, retention, and institutional messaging.

Potential hybrid work model may be available following the initial training period. The work schedule for this position may include working evenings and weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities

Design, produce, and edit visual content, including print, collateral, digital graphics, email, web and banner graphics, event materials, social media visuals, and related brand elements, ensuring adherence to PCC brand and identity standards.

Support College marketing and communications efforts by creating engaging visual concepts that help drive student recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and community outreach.

Apply ADA accessibility guidelines and best practices to ensure all digital and print media meet accessibility requirements.

Provide graphic layout, illustration, basic photography, and photo editing services for institutional projects and marketing campaigns.

Collaborate with writers, editors, marketing coordinators, videographers, and campus stakeholders to execute creative solutions aligned with project goals and deadlines.

Prepare files for print and digital production, ensuring quality control and proper formatting across media platforms.

Coordinate quotes, specifications, and print‑ready files with in‑house and third‑party vendors, including coordination of delivery to internal locations and client sites.

Maintain digital asset libraries, templates, brand files, and archived projects.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Graphic Art or related field and two (2) years of experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art.

Four (4) years experience in graphic design and layout, illustration or commercial art.

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired.

Other Requirements

Portfolio demonstrating strong visual graphic design work for strategic communication.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comfortable working in a macOS environment.

Ability to create visual concepts and produce polished, professional print and digital designs using industry-standard software (Adobe Creative Cloud—Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign; experience with Canva or similar tools beneficial).

Ability to follow brand standards and apply design best practices to varied content types and platforms.

Ability to operate relevant equipment (DSLR cameras, scanners, office equipment, etc.) as required.

Ability to balance creative design with functional communication needs, accessibility requirements, and project constraints.

Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices.

Knowledge of organizational and time‑management principles.

Skill in effective communication, both written and oral.

Physical Requirements Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with staff contact and frequent interruptions.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate (up to 20 pounds) amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
