This Opportunity The Director of Sales and Business Development will lead Komline’s go‑to‑market strategy for data center customers. The Director of Sales and Business Development would combine business development, strategic sales, and product ownership responsibilities to enable Komline to rapidly expand water and wastewater treatment solutions to hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center operators. Acting as both the commercial driver and Product Owner for our Data Center New Product Introduction (NPI), the Director of Sales and Business Development will have the autonomy to define offerings, build partnerships, and close transformational deals.
Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to penetrate the data center market segment
Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities with hyperscale operators, colocation providers, and enterprise data center customers
Lead complex consultative sales cycles from prospecting through contract negotiation and close
Achieve sales targets and establish Komline as a trusted partner in mission‑critical water treatment and cooling solutions
Identify and pursue strategic accounts with high growth potential
Act as Product Owner for the Data Center NPI initiative, defining customer requirements and translating them into actionable product/service offerings
Conduct market research and continuously capture Voice of the Customer (VOC) insights to understand Data Center industry trends, customer pain points, competitive landscape, and buying behaviors
Develop value propositions and business cases that demonstrate Return of Investment (ROI) for data center operators
Identify partnership opportunities (e.g., crystallization technology vendors) to complete our solution portfolio
Recommend “productization” strategies for repeatable, scalable data center offerings
Build and maintain C‑level relationships with key decision‑makers in target data center organizations
Serve as the voice of the customer internally, ensuring our solutions align with market needs
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to deliver customized, end‑to‑end solutions
Lead customer presentations, site visits, and technical demonstrations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
5‑10+ years of successful B2B sales experience, with at least 3 years selling into data center customers
Track record of opening new markets and achieving/exceeding revenue targets
Deep understanding of data center operations, infrastructure requirements, and key decision‑making criteria
Experience selling complex engineered solutions or capital equipment in mission‑critical environments
Technical acumen with ability to understand and articulate water treatment, cooling, or related technologies
Ability to build relationships with C‑suite executives and technical stakeholders
Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort identifying opportunities, taking/managing risks, and creating value in uncertain environments
Able to communicate effectively, present, and negotiate
Able to travel up to 70%
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with water treatment, cooling systems, or related technologies in data center applications
Existing relationships with hyperscale operators (AWS, Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc.) or major colocation providers
Background in product management or new product introduction initiatives
Knowledge of data center industry standards (Uptime Institute Tier classifications, ASHRAE guidelines, etc.)
Experience working with channel partners, system integrators, or OEM relationships
Technical certifications related to Data Centers (CDCP, CDCS) or water treatment
