Our HR Consulting team partners with business leaders across the firm on complex people and organizational topics. Using a consultative, solutions-oriented approach, HR Consultants advise leaders on compensation, benefits, staffing, performance management, talent practices, and policy interpretation. This team plays a critical role in elevating leader capability, strengthening the employee experience, and ensuring consistent, high-quality HR practices across Schwab.
HR Consultants serve as trusted advisors to people leaders, providing insight on team dynamics, organizational change, and workforce-related challenges. You will collaborate closely with HR Business Partners and Centers of Expertise to support enterprise initiatives, drive process improvement, and deliver thoughtful, future-focused recommendations that enable strong business and people outcomes.
In this role, you will apply effective listening, sound judgment, and strong prioritization as you deepen your consultative skill set. You will analyze information, identify patterns and trends, and recommend practical, actionable solutions that balance immediate needs with long-term impact. Responsibilities As part of the HR Consulting team, you will:
Partner with leaders to diagnose organizational and people-related challenges and recommend practical, future-focused solutions.
Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Centers of Expertise to support enterprise initiatives and drive process improvement.
Provide insight on team dynamics, organizational change, and workforce-related challenges to enable strong business and people outcomes.
Balance immediate needs with long-term impact through effective listening, sound judgment, and prioritization.
Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, helping elevate leader capability and strengthen the employee experience.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
7+ years of HR experience in areas such as HR Generalist work, Talent Management, Compensation, or Learning & Development
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
Proven HR Generalist or consultative HR experience in a matrixed organization
Strong partnership skills, with experience collaborating across HR Business Partners, Centers of Expertise, Legal, and business stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to coach and influence leaders by providing clear feedback, perspective, and guidance
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose root causes, identify trends, and deliver clear recommendations
Experience executing people programs and initiatives while delivering high-quality internal customer support
Ability to influence without authority and build trusted relationships across multiple HR functions
Experience using HR data, analytics, and metrics to inform decisions and communicate key insights
Solid understanding of HRBP and COE roles, with the ability to support execution and recommend innovative approaches
Comfort navigating both near-term challenges and longer-term strategic opportunities
Sound judgment and autonomy in determining approaches that drive effective outcomes in partnership with leaders
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences in 1:1 and group settings
Experience supporting annual HR programs such as performance management, talent reviews, pay planning, and engagement initiatives
Ability to prioritize effectively, manage competing deadlines, and remain flexible in a dynamic environment
