The Role: Senior Director, Ad-Tech
Genius Sports Ad-Tech Engineering Team seeks a smart, talented, and experienced Senior Director to lead the engineering team and further develop the growing Fan Activation platform.
Our platform combines an audience graph of over 250 million users and our highest-fidelity, lowest-latency sports data platform (GeniusIQ) to deliver truly unique activation opportunities for our advertising partners.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of system design and architecture, particularly for real-time systems, data warehousing and web application development. Key technologies we use are Rust, Snowflake, Temporal and NextJS.
They will have experience within the advertising industry and have expertise and understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem. Additionally, they will have a track record of building high-performing engineering teams and a passion for developing a team culture of innovation and quality to solve unique and complex problems.
Key Responsibilities
Build, coach, inspire and lead multiple teams of high-performing, passionate engineers across a range of disciplines (data engineering, real-time systems, full-stack development).
Enable a team-first culture, where teams feel secure to innovate, iterate, fail and learn rapidly with accountability.
Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with product, commercial, operations and other engineering groups. Ensure cross-functional dependencies are well managed.
Balance business objectives (revenue goals, customer relationships), product objectives (rapid experimentation, market fit) and engineering goals (system cohesion, extensibility, reliability) effectively in a fast moving space.
Own the advertising platform architecture, guiding the evolution of a coherent system that supports numerous advertising applications.
Actively engage with the wider engineering community at Genius Sports.
Qualifications
8+ years of relevant software engineering experience, with a focus on high-volume, public-facing web applications or platforms.
3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and building great engineering cultures.
3+ years of experience in ad tech, programmatic advertising, or digital media technology companies.
Strong business acumen and experience contributing to roadmap and strategy discussions.
Experience with conceptualization, design, and implementation of new and existing distributed application systems, middleware, and production architectures.
Experience working in a fast-moving space, establishing product market fit or scaling post product market fit.
Salary for this role is based on an annualized range of $250,000 - $325,000 USD. This role will also be eligible to take part in Genius Sports Group’s benefits plan.
