Weekend Morning Anchor/MMJ

Dominant CBS/ABC combo serving the Tri-Cities, Tennessee and Virginia communities is looking for a Weekend Morning Anchor/MMJ. Our amazing community is home to the Birthplace of Country Music, Bristol Motor Speedway, a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino plus world class hiking and fishing.

Join our station which has been part of the fabric of our community for more than 70 years and is a leader in delivering local content to our viewers.

The successful Weekend Morning Anchor/MMJ candidate should have previous news anchoring or reporting experience. We are looking for someone who can enterprise stories and excels at breaking news. This person will anchor weekend morning newscasts and MMJ three days a week. Must be a team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Presents news stories and other content for all platforms.
Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner.
Works with management to enterprise and develop stories daily
Demonstrates compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand-ups, creative graphics, and use of digital and social media platforms
Organizes material, determines angle or emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards
Builds network of sources who supply information
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Communication/Journalism or related degree required (equivalent years of experience may substitute for education)
(2) years television anchoring or reporting experience required
Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation
Strong reporting skills
Understands importance of social media
Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills
Promotes teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Fluency in English.

Minimum five years' experience in news reporting or anchoring. (More or less depending on market size.)
Superior on-air presence.
Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues.
