Director, Foundation and Corporate Relations

Overview: Our client, a renowned nonprofit biomedical research institution, is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to drive impactful fundraising initiatives by cultivating high-level partnerships with foundations, corporations, and philanthropic entities. The successful candidate will leverage their scientific background and extensive relationship-management skills to amplify the institute’s research and educational mission through innovative and collaborative funding strategies.

Compensation:

$150,000.00

Responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for foundation and corporate philanthropy, aligning with institutional goals. Cultivate and expand relationships with high-capacity foundation and corporate partners, overseeing multi-year engagement plans. Lead the creation of compelling, scientifically-informed proposals by translating complex research priorities into persuasive funding cases. Manage the full lifecycle of donor engagement, from initial prospecting to stewardship, ensuring high levels of donor satisfaction and retention. Serve as a key resource for faculty on funding opportunities, staying current on research initiatives and funding trends. Collaborate with internal teams, including faculty and senior leadership, to ensure cohesive messaging and strategic alignment. Prepare and oversee the submission of LOIs, grant proposals, and reports, ensuring compliance and excellence in presentation. Represent the institute at meetings and networking events with foundation and corporate leaders, enhancing visibility and partnership potential. Enhance cross-departmental collaboration to support strategic fundraising campaigns and institutional objectives.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; PhD or scientific background strongly preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in foundation relations or related fundraising within a nonprofit, academic, or research setting. Proven success in securing complex, multi-year institutional grants and establishing steady partnerships. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement integrated, collaborative fundraising strategies. Exceptional skill in communicating scientific concepts to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders. Strong leadership, influence, and relationship-building capabilities with faculty, senior leaders, and external partners. Adept at project management, capable of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously. Proficiency with CRM platforms and grants management systems such as Cayuse. Bachelor’s degree required; relevant advanced degrees are advantageous. Willingness to travel as needed, with limited travel (approximately 0-5%).
