
Social Worker/Counselor (Southwest)

We are currently looking to fill a Social Worker/Counselor role at our Palos Hills and Merrionette Park offices.
Salary and Sign‑On Bonus The average starting salary ranges from $60,000 to $70,000 annually, based on skill and experience. Candidates holding an LCSW or LCPC may receive up to $78,000. A $2,500 sign‑on bonus is awarded to first‑time employees as follows: $500 within the first or second paycheck; $1,000 after 6 months; $1,000 after completing 1 year.
Essential Job Functions
Perform comprehensive, in‑depth assessments for a variety of program services and complete required intakes.
Provide a full range of case management, counseling, advocacy, educational, and related services.
Learn and utilize agency and community resources.
Assess community conditions affecting clients to identify resource gaps.
Recommend financial assistance for clients.
Offer group services as indicated by program needs and develop or join groups/coalitions to address community needs.
Meet contractual requirements such as 24‑hour coverage, when applicable.
Represent and interpret agency programs in the community.
Serve on regional or agency‑wide committees.
Meet agency expectations for quantity of direct service.
Comply with agency record‑keeping expectations.
Work effectively with diverse staff and service populations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated superior skills with families or communities.
Demonstrated competence in consultation, teaching, or writing.
Mobility to work in the community with an assigned caseload.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
Qualifications
Master's degree in social work or related field from an accredited college or university (required).
Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (required).
2+ years of post‑graduate social work experience at an intermediate skill level (required).
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or experience working with clients experiencing substance use (preferred).
Additional Requirements
Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.
Transportation and Travel Requirements Driving for work required; transportation of clients preferred in a personally owned vehicle. Travel between sites not required.
Physical Demands Required to sit and stand for sustained periods, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle objects or controls, and occasionally bend, stretch, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
