WISA/Disability Benefits Specialist
Part Time Richmond, VA, US Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.00 Hourly We are looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative part-time WISA/WISA Tech to support our benefits counseling team. In this role, you will work directly under the guidance of a Certified WISA/benefits counselor. This is a critical "behind-the-scenes" role that ensures our clients and referral sources receive accurate, high-quality benefit reports. Primary Responsibilities: Draft comprehensive reports in approved formats for clients and referral sources. Clearly explain how earned income affects Social Security cash payments and medical benefits (Medicaid/Medicare). Maintain proactive communication with WISAs regarding report status, data needs, and formatting requirements. Assist WISA team as they work with clients to implement work incentives, to maximize their financial independence as they enter or return to the workforce. Qualifications: Communication: Strong writing skills for professional reporting and the ability to collaborate effectively. Resourcefulness: Comfort using technical databases and seeking mentorship for complex cases. Knowledge: A foundational understanding of Social Security work incentives and disability benefits (preferred) Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Associate’s degree (or equivalent credits) in a related field plus 2 years of experience, or a high school diploma and 5 years of related experience. WISA certification through Cornell University or VCU-WIPA and Community Partner certification preferred but not required
