USA TODAY ENTERTAINMENT seeks a dynamic Enterprise Reporter to deepen our distinctive coverage. This reporter will bring exceptional news judgment, deep industry sourcing, and strong writing skills to deliver agenda‑setting journalism that positions USA TODAY ahead of the competition. What You’ll Do
Drive coverage of the biggest entertainment stories —from breaking news to in‑depth enterprise— ensuring accuracy, speed, and impact. Leverage deep Hollywood sources (studio executives, talent reps, producers, publicists, legal contacts) to secure exclusive interviews and scoops. Guide and mentor other reporters fostering growth, collaboration, and high standards across the Entertainment team. Identify under‑reported trends and stories, delivering enterprise journalism that explains the forces shaping entertainment and pop culture. Collaborate across platforms—digital, social, video—to maximize reach and engagement; ensure vertical video and multimedia storytelling are part of the plan. Maintain rigorous standards for fairness, accuracy, and ethics; uphold USA TODAY NETWORK’s editorial principles. Use AI responsibly to support reporting efforts. What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 10 years in entertainment journalism with a record of breaking major stories and delivering high‑impact enterprise pieces. Deep Hollywood sourcing and ability to cultivate new relationships that yield exclusives and authoritative reporting. Exceptional news judgment and ability to make fast, strategic decisions under pressure. Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and managing journalists in a fast‑paced newsroom. Strong storytelling skills across formats—text, video, social—and comfort with analytics and audience insights. Collaborative mindset and ability to work across teams and disciplines. Experience managing coverage during major tentpole events (Oscars, Emmys, strikes, mergers). Familiarity with legal and business aspects of entertainment (contracts, labor disputes, litigation). Salary
The annualized base salary for this role will range between $103,000 and $160,938. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and may be applicable.
