The Role
Developing World Markets (DWM) is seeking a Business Development & Marketing VP (European Institutional Outreach) to expand our brand awareness and educational outreach among institutional investors across Pan-European markets. The ideal candidate will support our global business development efforts by identifying prospects, sharing marketing materials, and acting as a local liaison to facilitate introductions between European institutions and our US-based senior management team regarding our investment focus of market-based private lending for impactful purposes across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eurasia. This is a highly investor-facing role requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with institutional investors across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting & Market Mapping : Conduct in-depth market research to identify and map prospective institutional investors (pension funds, endowments, foundations, family offices), with a strategic focus on the Nordics, Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
Initial Outreach & Education : Initiate first-touch contact with target institutions – via emails, phone calls, in-person meetings and conferences – to articulate DWM’s impact investing strategies and value proposition, distribute approved marketing materials and share market research.
Marketing & Client Support : Assist the US team by preparing customized pitch books, performance updates, and tailored follow-up materials for investor meetings.
CRM Management : Maintain accurate and real-time records of all investor interactions, pipeline updates, and contact information within HubSpot.
Market Intelligence : Monitor region-specific alternative asset and impact investing industry trends, as well as competitor activity in our target European markets to inform the firm's broader marketing strategy.
Meeting Coordination : Organize and schedule roadshows, virtual meetings, and due diligence sessions across various European time zones for the Head of Business Development and other senior leaders, who travel frequently to Europe.
Location
Remote in UK, Switzerland or the Netherlands. The majority of the institutional investor focus is likely to be in Europe, and the role will be supporting two DWM Partners based in the New York area who are focused mainly on European investors and who travel to Europe frequently. The position will be based remotely in Europe in order to support that effort and engage with the target market, while in the same time zone and with easier travel logistics to attend conferences and meetings.
Experience and Qualifications
Education : A university degree, with advanced degree preferred
Experience : 4 or more years of experience in financial services, asset management, or investment banking, preferably in a sales, investor relations, or business development capacity.
Industry Knowledge : A strong understanding of alternative investments; a demonstrable passion for, or background in, impact investing is highly preferred.
Regional Acumen : Familiarity with the institutional investor landscape in Pan-European markets, particularly within the Nordics, DACH, UK, and Netherlands.
Language Skills : Fluency in English. Fluency in a second relevant European language is an advantage.
Communication : Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial concepts.
Key Attributes
Outgoing, relationship-oriented personality comfortable representing DWM at conferences, industry events, and investor meetings, and proactively initiating conversations with prospective institutional partners.
Self-starter, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while adhering strictly to cross-border compliance and regulatory guidelines.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Europe for meetings and conferences.
