The position
As a Senior Experience Designer, you’ll shape how millions of users experience the Venmo app across our Commerce ecosystem and broader product surfaces. You’ll design end-to-end experiences spanning payments, merchant interactions, and core app functionality—solving complex problems through thoughtful design and clear thinking.
You will also play a key role in evolving and scaling Venmo’s design system—ensuring it supports a growing set of use cases while maintaining consistency and a high bar for craft.
You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, research, and marketing to align on vision and deliver scalable solutions. This is a fast-paced environment where you’ll manage multiple projects and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end design for complex, high-impact initiatives
Drive the evolution and scalability of Venmo’s design system (components, patterns, documentation)
Ensure consistency and quality across products through strong system thinking
Partner with engineering to deliver scalable, production-ready components
Translate business goals and user insights into clear design strategies and frameworks
Establish best practices for design system adoption and governance
Use data, research, and testing to measure impact and improve outcomes
Collaborate cross-functionally to drive execution and delivery
Create high-quality designs, prototypes, and system-ready assets
Contribute to planning and alignment across product workstreams
Maintain cohesion across the broader PayPal ecosystem
Support and elevate Venmo’s design culture and craft
Requirements
10+ years of product design experience (UX and visual design)
Strong experience building or scaling design systems in consumer products
Portfolio demonstrating high-quality product design and design systems work
Experience in agency or consumer-facing apps (fintech preferred)
Deep understanding of component-based design and scalable systems
Experience partnering with engineering on production-ready components
Strong knowledge of mobile and web design (responsive and native)
Experience using research and data to inform design decisions
Ability to work independently in an iterative environment
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience with pattern libraries and design system documentation
Proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools
