Job Summary
As an OPIS Associate Journalist – International Feedstocks Markets, you will work with senior editors to collect and analyze pricing data to provide daily assessments and news for the international feedstocks markets. You will report on daily market pricing, fundamentals and create alerts relevant to the feedstocks spot market. You will report to the Journalism Associate Director.
Responsibilities
Accumulate spot market price transactions from industry participants via email, instant messaging and by phone.
Verify the legitimacy of the transactions and adhere to OPIS pricing methodology to create daily price assessments.
Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and liaise on a daily basis with industry stakeholders (Producers, Consumers, Traders, Brokers and other participants) to collect bids, offers, and spot deals.
Generate stories for OPIS' real-time news service as well as longer, more analytical content focusing on industry trends and emerging issues, while adhering to strict deadlines.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in business journalism, economics and/or energy markets.
Commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
Ability to translate technical materials into content that engages and instructs readers.
Solid grasp of math fundamentals and spreadsheet formulas.
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, economics, business, finance, English or relevant field – or equivalent work experience.
Basic understanding of commodity markets (preferred).

Compensation
Pay Range: $60,000 – $75,000. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation that the ideal candidates are likely to expect. We tailor offers within the range based on each candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other relevant factors.
