About the role What You’ll Do Lead design concepting and detailed design handoff to development
Lead experience and interface design for a conversational AI tool, including chatbot UI patterns, conversation flows, and response structure.
Drive consistency and quality across the portfolio by leveraging and evolving shared design systems, patterns, and standards.
Own information architecture and conversation mapping for the chatbot (intents, topics, follow-ups, fallback states, escalation paths).
Design and iterate feedback mechanisms to support continuous improvement.
Design end-to-end flows for digital products.
Translate validated concepts into detailed, production-ready design specifications, including component-level documentation, edge cases, and responsive behaviors.
Support UAT, pilot enhancements, and creation of design documentation for development handoff.
Work directly on our AI-powered digital product ecosystem
Your role will focus on an AI-powered toolkit to help NYL agents and staff quickly access guidance on suitable sales practices and reduce friction in the new business process.
Collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and SMEs to ensure solutions are usable, feasible, and compliant.
Ensure each experience is usable, engaging, and aligned to the broader product strategy.
Perform end-to-end design research and discovery activities to inform experience strategy, content, and UX decisions across both our financial education platform and NYL.com.
Understand the impact of design across products, using insights to iterate and inform experience improvements.
Cross-functional creation and collaboration Partner with cross functional team for delivery: Collaborate with design leadership, product owners, engineering, and implementation teams, driving alignment and decision-making across a large-scale, multi-year implementation and in-year MVP delivery.
Contribute to co-creation and workshops: Participate in working sessions to define and ideate, align stakeholders, and enable confident decisions.
Partner with design leadership: Collaborate with design, product, and business leadership across NYL to shape project direction and advocate for a cohesive, experience-led vision across teams.

Expert understanding of human-centered design principles, interaction design, visual design, and user experience.
A bachelor’s in a relevant field such as Design, Interaction Design, Communication Design or a related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
What You’ll Bring Your design experience
At least 5 years in digital experience design, including a track record of shipping high quality digital designs for consumers and a range of digital product types (e.g., responsive web, apps, portals, etc.).
Experience with conversational design and emerging AI design patterns.
Experience with designing for in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Understanding of UX principles for responsive web and enterprise tools.
Your technical abilities include
A track record of shipping digital experience designs in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment across front-ends and platforms (e.g., CMS, low
o-code platforms, framework-based front ends, native apps). Familiarity with architecture concepts including service-oriented architecture and micro-services, data models, and front-end programming (HTML, CSS). Mastery of design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and collaboration tools (Figjam, Miro). Ability to collaborate with research and apply insights from qualitative and quantitative feedback. Working knowledge of Agile product development methodologies and software like Jira. Your communication style Adaptable with the ability to bring clarity and structure to ambiguity. Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives. Strong organization and attention to detail.
