Job Overview
The Senior Strategic Marketing Manager – Global Mining serves as a critical bridge between Komatsu’s strategic vision and operational execution. This role is responsible for developing and leading integrated marketing and communications strategies that drive awareness, adoption, and alignment with Komatsu’s Global mining business goals. By connecting customer needs and industry challenges to the value provided by Komatsu’s products, services, and solutions, the manager will strengthen market positioning, enable sales, and advance enterprise growth.
This role will collaborate extensively across Komatsu subsidiaries, centers of excellence, distributors, and global teams, delivering marketing best practices, processes, programs and campaigns, resulting in positive impact on Komatsu Global Mining brand awareness, solution offerings, and business growth. The manager will oversee a team supporting mining products and solutions, spearhead project management for key initiatives, and partner with cross‑functional leaders to ensure consistent, scalable, and innovative marketing impact.
Key Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Campaigns
Develop and lead the solutions marketing communications strategy for Komatsu’s mining offerings, positioning products, services, and technologies as value‑added solutions to customer needs.
Plan and execute global marketing campaigns, incorporating thought leadership, brand alignment, and technical solution messaging.
Drive Komatsu mining solutions to market by cascading toolkits/messaging to regional marcom teams/subsidiaries.
University/Sponsorship/Talent/STEM – Growing need to increase visibility of mining as a professional career option at the high school and university level. Assist a small team to develop a strategy around program development with a phase 1‑5 year approach.
Research and establish customer journey mapping process and the advancement of a utilization of a CRM platform to inform marketing and content strategy/approach/tactics. May include partnering with cross‑departmental teams.
Establish best practices on how to leverage voice of customer/distributor (VOC)/(VOD) activities with sales, engineering, and product teams to translate insights into targeted marketing approaches and audience nuances.
Engage with distributors/customers through meetings, industry events, and conferences to reinforce solution value and strengthen relationships.
Understanding how market trends are influencing audience behaviors and industry dynamics and how marketing and communication strategies and tactics should be adapted to maximize impact to effectively engage with current and future target audiences.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Content Strategy
Collaborate with marketing and communications peers to align content, channels, and automation programs, ensuring timely, segmented, and personalized outreach.
Partner with creative, operations, and communications teams to deliver consistent, high‑quality content across global audiences and formats.
Support alignment across internal communications, public relations, trade shows, events, sponsorships, and media planning.
Evaluate current approaches and how we may adapt, expand, improve efficiencies, or innovate, including social media, review of website content.
Manage and/or mentor a team of marketing business unit managers/communication managers.
Oversee project management for key technology Center of Excellence initiatives (e.g., Automation, Electrification), including strategic messaging, partnership, and development of solutions‑oriented marketing materials.
Champion new marketing tool platform consideration and approaches (automation, CRM, AI content portals) to increase effectiveness and scalability.
Define and track KPIs, ROI, and other performance metrics; partner with analytics teams to deliver quarterly progress reports and continuously refine strategy.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications required. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Communications preferred.
10+ years applicable experience focused on marketing, communications, product management, sales or solutions
Ability to travel up to 20% required (customer meetings, VOC/VOD visits, tradeshows, industry events)
Exceptional writing ability, especially translating technical content and product info into useful materials for non‑technical audiences
Displays knowledge in relation to the product or service being marketed to the public, or demonstrates capabilities of learning quickly about it.
Ability to take complex ideas and translate them into communications that can be easily understood by audiences at all levels.
Ability to manage people and motivate a team to achieve goals.
Understands customer engagement strategy development and how consumers respond to various forms of media and engagements.
Possesses strong communication, relationship building, and negotiation skills. Experience working with individuals in leadership roles (internal and external to the organization).
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, short deadline environment and adapt to change; Can meet demands and timelines without sacrificing quality; works well under stress.
Must have the ability to effectively influence, mentor, and educate both internal and external stakeholders in a variety of cultures

Additional Information
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The salary range for this role is $130,000.00 - $160,000.00. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
