Job Description School Year: 2026‑27 Position: Dean of Family & Community Engagement Campus: United Middle Main St. Grade(s): 6th‑8th Grade Reports to: School Director
United Schools is a nonprofit charter organization serving more than 900 students across two high‑performing elementary schools (K‑5) and two high‑performing middle schools (6‑8). The mission is to transform lives and communities through the power of education, keeping the vision: "For every child, an open door." The Dean of Family & Community Engagement (DFCE) plays a pivotal role in building community visibility, enrolling and retaining students, supporting families with resources, and facilitating smooth transitions to subsequent school programs.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the school director and staff to enroll and retain students.
Provide families with resources and programming through the in‑house family resource center or external organizations.
Support attendance reporting and improvement initiatives.
Assist families in preparing students for middle or high school readiness.
Create family nights and extracurricular opportunities to enrich the school experience.
Coordinate attendance monitoring and student readiness reporting.
Qualifications
Holder of a B.A./B.S. degree (required); advanced degree preferred.
At least three years of proven school leadership and/or teaching experience in urban settings, with an emphasis on data‑driven instruction and demonstrable gains in student achievement.
Strong commitment to data‑driven instructional practices, including techniques from Teach Like a Champion 3.0.
Experience in writing, refining, and internalizing curriculum, lessons, and assessments.
Openness to frequent feedback and collaborative improvement.
Effective communication with students, families, and colleagues.
Proficiency with Google products for communication and job responsibilities.
Terms of Employment
Full‑time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.; occasional tasks may extend outside of these hours.
Salary: $55,000 to $65,760 per year, based on experience and education.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; eligibility for the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) or the School Employees Retirement System of Ohio (SERS).
