Compensation
The full salary range for the Commercial Insurance & Group Health Account Manager position is $27.60 to $37.70 per hour, with new hires generally starting between $28.45 to $30.95 per hour, based on relevant knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
Spanish-language differential:
Candidates who pass the Spanish language assessment will be eligible to earn an additional $1-$2 per hour.
Annual Incentive:
In addition, all SELCO Insurance Service team members are eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on the completion of 3-4 team and individual goals, set by your supervisor at the beginning of each year. The total incentive received is calculated based on the percentage of the goals you complete. Incentive amounts can range from 0%-12% of the prior year eligible earnings (with the average payout for the last 3 years being 12%).

The Commercial Insurance & Group Health Account Manager is responsible for selling SELCO Group’s products and services, with a focus on commercial and group health, while providing assistance to prospects and existing insurance clients.

Position-specific Essential Functions
Update client and insurance information with insurance companies and SELCO Group’s insurance systems.
Complete applications, rate, and quote risks for new and renewal business.
Generate commercial insurance sales through internal referrals and service existing policies, and store appropriate documentation.
Assist clients and claim inquirers with connecting to the appropriate carrier and/or claim representative.
Maintain knowledge of the current underwriting requirements and authority outlined by each carrier.
Review issued policies for accuracy before delivery to clients.
Prepare and deliver binders and invoices upon binding coverage. Secure premium financing when needed.
Process premium audits and assist clients in the event of a dispute.
Evaluate client coverage needs and prepare proposals and insurance summaries.
Explain insurance policies and coverages, make recommendations, and adhere to agency procedures.
Recommend policy, process, and procedure changes to management and assist in implementation.
Create or obtain an employee census for the insured business to gather information for group health plan eligibility status.
Obtain group health quotes with insurance carriers and different plan types using census and other information.
Complete master group health application and review contributions, waiting period, and compliance.
Review employee enrollment forms and coverage options based on specific needs.
Provide and present finalized plan with Explanation of Benefits to insured for distribution to their employees.
Deepen client relationships by determining client needs and promoting and cross-selling SELCO companies’ products and services.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; and
At least two (2) years of commercial insurance service experience; and
Valid Property & Casualty and Life & Health License from the State of Oregon (this requirement may be waived for the first 90 days of employment); and
Group health experience preferred, but not required; and
Must be bondable.
Physical Demands While performing the job duties, approximately 90% of the time is spent stationary, with the remaining time spent moving around work areas. Frequent communication occurs in person, over the phone, and in writing. This position requires the ability to view a computer screen and interpret printed materials and other documents. This position requires the ability to lift and transport up to 5 pounds, and there is an occasional need to stoop, kneel, or reach to access documents, equipment, and supplies.
Interaction and Work Environment Reports to: SIS Operations & Service Manager Work areas are inside a climate-controlled environment with background noise.
