Job Description The U.S. Foundational Therapies Platform (FTP) Business Unit brings together Takeda’s longstanding Immunology, Hematology, Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD), Alpha‑1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and Transplant portfolios to support patients who rely on treatment over the long term, often for years or decades. United by a shared focus on continuity of care, reliability and sustained partnership, FTP is designed to deliver the foundational capabilities patients, caregivers and healthcare providers depend on at scale.

The Rare Disease Business Manager (RDBM) leverages strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable strategies to assist HCPs in the acceleration of diagnosis of patients within the rare metabolic space.

The RDBM will establish and build impactful relationships with all physicians and accounts within their geographic responsibility by providing scientific data and in-depth knowledge where appropriate for the Takeda Rare Disease portfolio of Lysosomal Storage Disorder products.

Through strategic data analysis and business planning, the RDBM will collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare providers and internal stakeholders to provide educational resources and tools necessary to assist in early patient diagnosis and/or treatment. The RDBM will educate and raise awareness of specific Lysosomal Storage Disorders, Gaucher Disease and Hunters (MPS II) Syndrome, with health‑care providers in a defined geography. When appropriate, the RDBM will also partner with cross‑functional members to integrate resources and help educate HCPs on facilitation of therapy for their patients. You will report to the Regional Business Director, LSD.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all business‑related activities within a geographic responsibility, including achievement of sales goals through executing brand strategies.

Focus on target physicians seeing patients with Lysosomal Storage Disorders and assisting healthcare providers with the education necessary to aid early diagnosis and/or treatment.

Develop business plans that allocate appropriate disease‑state and product education throughout the geography.

Engage customers to create disease‑state awareness within multidisciplinary health‑care specialties to enhance the LSD business and build support for the portfolio.

Educate HCPs on the LSD portfolio of products, describing signs and symptoms, informing on differential diagnosis, and presenting appropriate Takeda treatment options.

Collaborate with the LSD cross‑functional team and internal business partners to coordinate efforts, maximize impact, and enhance business outcomes.

Strategically analyze market data to assess business opportunities and priorities, considering regional healthcare market and patient dynamics.

Attend conferences and exhibitions to raise disease‑state awareness; plan and execute disease‑state and product programs using approved vendors.

Partner and motivate extended team members to improve performance, fostering a culture of engagement and accountability.

Integrate and prioritize U.S. LSD approved sales leads and tactics with key stakeholders to optimize customer engagement and account outcomes.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical devices or relevant clinical or industry experience; or 2+ years of selling experience at Takeda.

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary internal and external teams.

Demonstrated strong marketplace acumen.

Rare disease experience preferred; complex sales model experience required.

Consistent track record of success.

Strategic territory management successes.

Experience working within a complex sales model.

Biotech, biologics, and specialty pharmacy experience helpful.

Experience with buy‑and‑bill product selling/account management preferred.

Understanding of payer access and reimbursement at assigned regional, state, and local levels.

Experience managing and communicating complex reimbursement issues.

5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, preferably in rare disease or sleep disorders.

Sales experience with pharmaceutical or biologic products requiring coordination with patient access and market access teams.

Experience working in a highly regulated marketplace.

Adept at leveraging emerging technologies, digital tools, and openness to AI‑enabled processes.

Travel Requirements

Candidate must live in territory.

Must work evenings and weekends as needed.

Extensive travel required, varying by territory (≈50%).

Must have authorization and ability to drive a company‑leased vehicle or rental.

Training Requirements This position and continued employment are contingent upon successfully passing mandatory product training which includes written and oral examinations. During the training period, the employee will be classified as a non‑exempt employee and will be eligible for overtime in accordance with federal and/or state law, but will not be eligible for any Takeda‑related sales incentive programs or production‑based bonuses. Training will involve live instruction, independent study, role play, and other activities, with a maximum of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.

After successful completion of the mandatory training, the employee will transition to exempt status, discontinue overtime eligibility, and be eligible for bi‑weekly pay and participation in Takeda‑related incentive programs and contests.

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary U.S. – WA – Virtual. Hourly wage range: $66.11 – $90.91. The actual wage offered may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education level, certifications, and location. U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, disability and life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, holidays, and well‑being benefits. U.S. employees may receive up to 80 hours of sick time and up to 120 hours of paid vacation per calendar year.
