
Assistant Designer

Our client, a private label apparel company, is seeking an Assistant Designer to join their team on a temporary basis for approximately six months. This role will support the design team during a maternity leave coverage, with an ideal start date in early April to allow for a thorough training and transition period ahead of the leave in June. This is a full-time opportunity offering hands‑on experience across the design and development process within a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Onsite 5 days.
Responsibilities:
Support the design team in developing seasonal collections across multiple private label accounts
Assist with creating CADs, technical sketches, and presentation boards
Organise and maintain design files, fabric libraries, and sample tracking
Assist in preparing for fittings, including measuring samples and taking detailed notes
Communicate with cross‑functional teams including product development, production, and merchandising
Help source fabrics, trims, and inspiration aligned with customer and brand direction
Ensure all design deliverables are completed accurately and on calendar
Support day‑to‑day administrative needs of the design team
Qualifications:
1–3 years of experience in an apparel design or assistant design role, preferably within private label
Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Ability to create clean, accurate technical sketches and CADs
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred
