Technical Writer I (PEO IE) Washington, D.C. Administration Washington, D.C. Full-Time April 9, 2026 PAI is seeking a Technical Writer I to support the Contingency Engineering Division under the Program Executive Office Industrial Infrastructure and Engineering (PEO IE) located at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. This individual will provide support to NAVFAC HQs Operations Department’s Contingency Engineering (CE) and Theater Engagement (TE) operations encompassing all NAVFAC products and services via NAVFAC echelon III commands, NAVFAC Atlantic, NAVFAC Pacific, NAVFAC EXWC and the Navy Crane Center. Job Responsibilities Work will be performed at the Washington Navy Yard in office spaces provided by NAVFAC HQs Operations. Plan, create, and revise classified and unclassified documents based on operations and highly technical information. This includes developing, editing, refining, and proofreading materials. The writer would work on a range of documents, including technical manuals, training materials, reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications. A key part of the job would be to collaborate with engineers, logisticians, project managers, and other partners to define project requirements and resolve content, production, and scheduling issues. The technical writer would be responsible for ensuring the clarity and accuracy of complex technical documents. This involves translating technical concepts into clear and concise documentation for a variety of audiences. This would also involve interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs) to distill highly complex information into easy-to-understand materials. Required Skills and Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience with a High School diploma or GED; Vocational training commensurate with Department of Labor functional description. Minimum of 5 years of experience in revising or writing standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications. Demonstrated skills and experience in organizing material and completing writing assignments according to set standards. Proficiency in structured authoring tools and standard office software. Inputting and formatting text, tables, and graphics would be a regular task. This could also involve proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoW Security Clearance at the Secret level. Desired Skills and Experience DoW/military technical writing experience with Uniform Facilities Criteria for permanent and non-permanent facilities and systems. Knowledge and experience with Navy expeditionary forces operations and publications. Knowledge and experience with Navy Warfare Development Center publications and processes. Knowledge and experience with Navy Expeditionary Warfare Development Center publications and processes. Knowledge and experience with NAVFAC operations, publications, and processes.
