Position Overview
This full‑time duty shift pool operator is responsible for receiving, evaluating, and disseminating calls for police and emergency services. The role offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, employer‑paid life insurance, long‑term disability, a Missouri LAGERS retirement pension, paid time off, sick leave, and employee assistance, with an annual salary of $56,575 plus built‑in overtime.
Key Responsibilities
Answer administrative and emergency calls from the general public, collect incident information, and dispatch appropriate emergency safety personnel (police, fire department, ambulance).
Prioritize calls based on urgency.
Maintain telephone contact with callers during dangerous situations.
Track the status, availability, and location of police officers.
Provide information to police regarding outstanding warrants, wanted persons, suspect/subject data, and vehicle information from computer databases during traffic stops and complaint investigations.
Confirm relevant information with officers, relay information to other law‑enforcement agencies via computer and radio.
Dispatch personnel from towing companies, public‑works personnel and other agencies.
Maintain knowledge of emergency communication devices, including the Telecommunications Device for the Deaf, procedures, ordinances, statutes, regional geography, and sources of emergency response resources and information.
Update computer‑aided dispatch information.
Take and relay messages to officers, connect officers to outside telephone lines, answer informational public calls, locate addresses and numbers for police, and maintain files for wanted persons, stolen articles/vehicles, missing persons.
Monitor security and building control devices.
Monitor individuals in holding cells, booking room, and sallyport for conduct, safety, medical or other needs.
Requirements
Knowledge of communications equipment and technology.
Knowledge of Police Department, Highway Patrol, and other emergency service providers.
Skilled in quickly and accurately entering data.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain MULES/NCIC certification.
