Job Information

Open to the general public and any current Municipality of Anchorage employee. This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union. Department: Solid Waste Services Hours of Work: Monday to Saturday, hours vary Location: 1208 East 56th Avenue / 15500 E Eagle River Loop Road / Ruane Rd, off Alyeska Highway, Girdwood AK Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps. Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40. Under minimal supervision, interface with customers as the divisions first point of contact at disposal sites and in customer service administrative areas and call center. Proficient and cross-trained to perform all duties within both the scale house and cash booth, customer call center, and code enforcement duties relating specifically to the collecting and disposal of solid waste within the Municipality of Anchorage. Possess well-rounded knowledge of municipal ordinances and codes, department polices, cash handling policies, services, rates, fees, fines and payment options. Ability to screen disposal loads for acceptable content and hazardous materials, determine and inform customers of any special handling fees associated with their loads, and/or asses and process fees according to current ordinance(s). Other duties as assigned. Account Representative III is the multi-skilled, advanced level of this class series in which incumbents are cross trained to work in all the customer service units in the Administration Building and at the four disposal sites. Incumbents at this level may train employees in the I and II levels of this class series. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in a customer service, collection, or accounting environment with at least one (1) year at the Account Representative II level with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere. Ability to 10 key at a net speed of 100 KSPM. All applicants must possess and/or obtain: A satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire. Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire. 10 key at a net speed of 100 KPSM Certificate Additional Important Information

Military Service Interview Preference: Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration. Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual's command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service.
