Job Summary
The Carpenter, Small Structures is based at the Valdosta, GA manufacturing plant, with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for constructing, assembling, and ensuring the quality of wooden structures through precise measurement, cutting, and assembly techniques, while adhering to safety and production standards and meeting customer specifications. This position reports directly to the Manager, Plant (or Supervisor, Plant) and does not have direct reports.
Job Responsibilities
Assesses the requirements and specifications for each chicken coop or doghouse project, including the size, layout, ventilation, insulation, and access points.
Determines the appropriate materials, such as wood, hardware, roofing, and insulation, based on project needs, durability, and the comfort of the animals.
Cuts, shapes, and assembles the components of chicken coops or dog houses according to the design plans, ensuring structural integrity, weatherproofing, and aesthetic appeal.
Installs the chicken coops or dog houses securely in their designated locations, ensuring stability, proper leveling, and functionality.
Conducts thorough inspections of the finished chicken coops or dog houses to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
Coordinates with other team members, clients, and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the chicken coops or dog houses are designed and built to meet their specific needs and preferences.
Performs routine maintenance and repairs tasks on existing chicken coops or dog houses to ensure their continued functionality, safety, and longevity.
Adheres to safety protocols and maintains a clean workspace.
Assists in other duties within the carpentry manufacturing plant, including the following:
Erector/Siding
Electrical
Flooring
Framing
Painting/Trim
Press/Rafting
Ramps/Accessories
Roofing
Trusses
Vinyl
Requirements
Must be able to PASS drug screen.
Common knowledge of hand and power tools.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to work well as a team.
Ability to paint.
Education/Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required.
Travel This position does not require travel.
