Summary
The Purchasing Specialist position is located in our Oil City, PA facility. This position coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties. Come grow with us!
What You’ll Do
Contact companies for pricing/quotes.
Confirm parts/items are in inventory for jobs.
Analyze the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
Solicit and evaluate proposals for the requested commodity.
Inventory management.
Negotiate the best value considering price, delivery, quality & terms.
Recommend purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.
Assure that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
Maintain timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records.
Coordinate appropriate methods needed to distribute commodities in a cost-effective manner.
Enforce and abide by company policies, procedures and compliance guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assist Purchasing Manager supervising storeroom attendants.
What You’ll Need
Two-year College or University degree or 4 years manufacturing experience or four years related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportion to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Preferred Computer Skills: GSS, Spreadsheet and Word Processing Software, Engineering Software (CAD/CAM).
