Description The Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist manages The Salvation Army’s interactions with the public by implementing content strategies on social media platforms. The specialist represents the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division by increasing its social media presence, running organic and paid advertising campaigns, driving engagement through original and impactful content, and engaging influencers while managing the online community.

Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day management of social media communities, moderating chatter and conversations; identifying and diffusing negative sentiment when possible.

Co‑ordinate with organization teams to deliver appropriate responses, particularly during crises.

Expand the size and engagement of the social media community exponentially.

Proactively engage TSA influencers and journalists, build bridges through users on blogs, and nurture the community to amplify fundraising efforts.

Establish and manage new social profiles; assist corps/programs with theirs.

Maintain and monitor TSA’s digital presence across platforms.

Manage social media communications calendar and syndication schedules with content from contributors across the division and territory.

Curate and create content, including copywriting, sourcing, and aggregation, working with other departments as needed.

Develop a content production schedule using tools such as Hootsuite; create processes and workflows to maximize output.

Conduct audits of existing social media presences.

Integrate social media efforts with web, digital media, media relations, marketing, fundraising, and other functions.

Stay current with latest social media best practices and technologies.

Brand existing and new profiles across major social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).

Manage auto‑generated profiles and directory entries, claim when possible, and provide correct branding information.

Collaborate with territorial and divisional headquarters to build the brand in the digital media space.

Attend relevant community events, visit corps sites, and conduct photo shoots and interviews.

Produce and manage reporting on all social media activity, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.

Identify trends and relay learnings back to the team to guide content, marketing, and fundraising strategy.

Measure campaign success, delivering regular updates on traffic and conversion to directors.

Assist the Donor Data Management Director with data and donation processing during the holiday season.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.

Proven work experience in social media.

Experience developing marketing plans.

Ability to create the appropriate voice for each social media platform.

Proven track record of building social media communities.

Understanding of graphic design principles and photography.

Hands‑on experience in content management.

Excellent copywriting and communication skills.

Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics.

Strong analytical and multitasking skills.

Familiarity with database maintenance preferred.

High level of integrity and confidentiality.
