Job Description
The Multiplatform Producer works closely with correspondents to gather all editorial elements needed for stories, including social media newsgathering, research, securing interviews, and confirming information with government agencies and community organizations.
The Producer must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, adapt quickly to breaking news, and collaborate closely with editorial leadership and production teams.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a multiplatform newsroom and demonstrates strong knowledge of social media and digital storytelling. This role requires strong editorial judgment, the ability to work under tight deadlines and a solid understanding of national and international news, including breaking news coverage.
Responsibilities include requesting graphics and other visual elements that support storytelling and enhance the presentation of stories across platforms. The Multimedia Producer may also assist in writing scripts and editorial content for newscasts and digital coverage, requiring a strong visual sense and the ability to identify compelling video, natural sound, and other elements that strengthen the narrative and overall impact of a story.
In addition, the Multiplatform Producer is responsible for booking guests on a daily basis for linear, streaming, and digital platforms. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, including weekends, early mornings, and flexible hours to accommodate last‑minute scheduling changes. The position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, particularly during breaking news coverage or special assignments.
Responsibilities:
Gather editorial elements needed for stories, including social media newsgathering, research, and securing interviews.
Contribute to the day’s editorial direction by pitching story ideas, exclusive reports, and interview opportunities.
Participate in breaking news coverage and special projects.
Demonstrate proficiency in using social media platforms for newsgathering, research, and content creation.
Maintain a well‑established network of contacts, including community organizations, business leaders, federal and local officials, and other media outlets.
Work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment, including weekends, early mornings, and flexible hours to accommodate last‑minute scheduling changes.
Operate under the guidance of the VP of News Gathering.
This position is based on‑site in Miami, Florida, and requires regular in‑office presence to support newsroom operations.
Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable newsroom culture.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 3 years of on‑air news reporting experience in Spanish.
Experience producing digital video content in a newsroom environment is a plus.
Proficiency in social media platforms and trends.
Fluent in Spanish, written and spoken. Fluent in English.
Desired Characteristics:
Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.
Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story.
Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.
