Lead Substation Physical Engineer
to join our diverse and fast-paced Atlanta, GA organization. As a core team member, you will interact with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing high voltage utility substation projects. Candidates must be located in the United States and live further than 50 miles from the Atlanta, GA office. Preferred candidates would be located in Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Alabama. Must be willing to travel to customer sites and in office as needed (10% to 20% travel). Hybrid Work Schedule

Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for medium to large‑scale utilities/substations (including basic layout, electrical arrangement, one‑line, three‑line drawings, plan‑section, grounding, AC and DC system drawings). Perform advanced engineering studies and calculations. Perform Quality Control reviews on medium to large substation physical design projects. Create and review bill of materials for substation physical projects. Develop and review proposals, and scopes of work for substation physical projects. Develop and provide advanced technical presentations to the team to assist with staff technical development. Be involved in client interaction (including site visits) with a drive for customer satisfaction. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers. Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with the internal teams and clients to meet project objectives. What you will bring to the table
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related degree with eight (8+) years of substation physical design experience. Leadership experience in executing substation projects. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients to meet project needs. Ability to lead bids and proposal effort for utility clients. Ability to perform quality control checks on substation design projects. Act as a supervisor for one to six direct reports. Ability to read and design substation physical drawings such as one‑line drawings, three‑line drawings, plan‑section drawings, foundation, and grounding drawings. Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings such as one‑line drawings, three‑line drawings, AC/DC schematic drawings and wiring design. Ability to create and check bill of materials for substation physical. Act as a key contributor to develop substation physical application documents to define design scope, philosophies, methodologies, and criteria for medium and high‑voltage substation projects. Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies. Ability to attend site visit at customer location. It would be nice if you had
Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) License. Master’s degree in related field. Experience with QA/QC. Working knowledge of protection and control design. Experience with BUS calculations. Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS. Experience with SDS AutoCAD Electrical software. In this role, you can expect to grow
