Overview of the Role
The Finance & Strategy (F&S) team serves as a trusted adviser to the business to help guide decision‑making through business partner support and innovative analyses. Role Description Within the F&S organization, this position will serve as the lead finance business partner to Slack – one of Salesforce’s fastest‑growing and most strategic products. This Director will partner directly with Slack’s product and engineering leadership and play a key role in scaling the business successfully. The position balances maintaining financial control with strategic decision support and custom analyses to guide the business toward its financial goals, including driving monetization strategy, infrastructure investment decisions, and operating performance. This role requires a highly collaborative, strategic finance leader with deep analytical capabilities and executive communication skills.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary finance business partner to Slack’s GM and senior leadership team
Understand Slack’s business model, especially with respect to economic drivers like price and quantity contribution to revenue, cost to serve, and margin expansion
Facilitate investment decisions by utilizing ROI analysis and other decision frameworks to optimize resource allocations and drive financial performance
Manage annual planning and budgeting processes for Slack and collaborate on the Long Range Plan (“LRP”) to ensure strategic alignment across the company
Influence monetization strategy for new products, including future AI roadmap, in partnership with Pricing Strategy and drive financial modeling for AI cost forecasting
Provide recommendations on deal escalations to Deal Desk, Sales, and Sales Strategy
Prepare and present high‑quality executive presentations for Slack leadership
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or other relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience. Experience will be evaluated based on the Core Competencies for the role (e.g., extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in finance, consulting, or analytics
Exceptional relationship‑building skills demonstrated by the ability to grow and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders
Proven track record of achievement, process improvement, and professional growth
Extensive experience in financial planning & analysis and financial modeling
Intellectual curiosity, fueled by a proactive approach to learn and grow
Results‑oriented problem solver with strong business judgment and the ability to communicate risks and opportunities
Analytical thinker with a passion for using data to solve business problems
Strong storyteller who excels at building relationships and collaborating in a cross‑functional environment
Additional Information This role is hybrid and goes into the office 3 days per week.
