Job Overview
Job Title:
Plumbing Designer
We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Designer to lead the design and layout of plumbing systems for a variety of commercial construction projects, including multi-family residential, mixed-use developments, and institutional facilities. You will work closely with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, and clients to ensure seamless integration of plumbing systems within the overall project scope.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and layout of plumbing systems for commercial construction projects.
Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, and clients.
Develop and refine detailed schematics, riser diagrams, and construction documents.
Conduct site visits and client meetings to assess project needs and verify field conditions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.
Essential Skills
Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in commercial plumbing design.
Deep understanding of plumbing systems: domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, gas piping, and fire protection coordination.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and BIM modeling.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for project coordination, reporting, and communication.
Familiarity with local and national plumbing codes (UPC, IPC, NFPA) and permitting processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in multi‑family residential design is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Work Environment Hybrid work environment: two days remote work per week. Opportunity to grow into leadership roles within the small Charlotte office, working on various projects with a team based in Atlanta. Occasional travel may be required for client consultations, site assessments, and construction coordination meetings.
Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay & Benefits Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year.
