Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an
Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Designer for a Direct Hire opportunity with a confidential company
to support engineering and design projects within industrial environments. This role is responsible for developing detailed instrumentation and electrical design drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with applicable industry codes and safety standards. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Essential Duties:
Develop detailed Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) design drawings using AutoCAD 2D and SPI software
Prepare field instrumentation drawings including loop diagrams, instrumentation layouts, hook‑up drawings, junction box (JB) drawings, and control room layouts
Create electrical design drawings including area classification drawings, one‑line diagrams, grounding/earthing layouts, and power distribution layouts for low‑voltage systems (below 480V)
Coordinate with site operations, technicians, and project teams to develop project scopes and technical requirements
Communicate with project engineers, document control teams, and operations personnel to ensure accurate and timely project execution
Interface with internal and remote design teams to coordinate project scope discussions and design reviews
Review vendor documentation and incorporate vendor‑specific requirements into design drawings
Perform quality reviews and validation of final deliverables prior to submission
Ensure compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental protocols
Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to support project design requirements and manage design revisions
Requirements / Skills:
Diploma or Certificate in Instrumentation and Electrical Design required
Minimum 10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Electrical design within industrial environments such as oil & gas, refining, chemicals, or related industries
Strong experience with AutoCAD 2D drafting
Proficiency with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and/or InTools software
Working knowledge of field instrumentation systems and related drawings
Experience with low‑voltage electrical design (below 480V) preferred
Strong working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, and API
Experience working in EPC or EPCm environments preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
Ability to review technical drawings and documentation
May require occasional site visits, including walking, standing, and navigating industrial environments
Ability to comply with all required safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
