MOTION DESIGNER | COOPERATIVE WORK EXPERIENCE

We are seeking a design student/graduate with a strong interest in motion design and a foundation in graphic design to support the Invisible North creative team. This position offers hands‑on experience with a fast‑growing creative marketing agency. You will be involved in all stages of a project from initial concept through motion and design execution. Applicants should have a portfolio that demonstrates both strong visual design fundamentals and an emerging motion sensibility.

This is a temporary, hourly paid position; Invisible North is not a degree‑granting or educational institution so any school credit earned from this experience shall be granted through your current educational program.

While our main office is located in DUMBO Brooklyn, we work as a distributed team with members reaching from Maine to LA, and everywhere in between. This role can be remote, in‑office, or hybrid, working on ET hours.

Summer dates are flexible, roughly June 2, 2026 – Aug 30, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct preliminary brand research and contribute to the design conceptualization process for RFPs and live projects, including developing motion references, storyboards, and concept frames.

Collaborate with creative team members to develop and execute motion‑led design solutions across digital and experiential platforms, including social, presentations, and experiential content.

Create and produce motion and visual assets across platforms, including animation, typography, transitions, and short‑form video.

Support visual system design across pitches and active projects, including decks, layouts, and visual systems.

Assist in translating static design systems into motion design systems aligned with the overall brand and visual language.

Support design production by organizing files, exporting assets, and preparing deliverables for both digital and experiential applications.

Take direction from creative team members and maintain detailed notes during internal and external meetings and calls.

Offer creative support across agency initiatives, with a focus on motion and time‑based media.

Skills + Qualifications

Portfolio must include motion/animation work (After Effects or similar), alongside strong typography and layout fundamentals.

Clear communication, a collaborative approach to cross‑functional teamwork, and a strong team‑oriented mindset.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

Comfortable learning new tools and workflows across motion, design, and production.

Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects required; Premiere, Cinema 4D, or similar a plus), Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.

Interest in or exposure to motion design for spatial or physical environments (e.g., screens, installations, projections) is a plus.

Experience or interest in print and environmental graphics is a plus.

Self‑starter, proactive, organized, flexible, and eager to learn.

Comfortable working in our Dumbo office with team members two days per week.

Compensation Hourly rate: $25/hr, 36‑40 hrs/wk
