Student Financial Services seeks a Financial Aid Administrator to provide comprehensive and quality administration of financial aid for all undergraduate students. We are seeking a person who is creative, energetic, and demonstrates a sincere commitment to providing quality assistance. This position contributes to the compliance of federal and state regulations, the creation and enforcement of office policies and procedures, and the timely and accurate delivery of student financial aid.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

Award federal, state, institutional, and non‑university resources to students.

Determine and award students based on their financial‑aid eligibility per federal/state regulations, institutional policies, and donor requirements.

Accurately award funds to ensure all resources are applied appropriately.

Participate in quality‑control efforts to verify award packages are correct and follow standard packaging rules.

Use professional judgment on a case‑by‑case basis to provide the best award package for unique circumstances.

Prioritize workload according to department deadlines and monitor awarding queues to minimize delays.

Document awarding comments within the imaging system and/or student information system.

Participate in testing of awarding tools, revised packaging formulas, modified workflow queues, and new reports.

Award / Scholarship Activities:

Assist in resolving inquiries from students, parents, or other university departments using clear communication and follow‑up.

Act as backup for scholarship activities during peak periods or personnel absence.

Extract data from scholarship letters, mailed checks, emails, and other documentation into the imaging system for awarding purposes.

Process scholarship/grant certification requests.

Document awarding processes as standard operating procedures.

Participate in projects and initiatives to improve efficiencies within Student Financial Services.

Participate in financial‑aid methodology discussions, plan aid‑year rollover maintenance, and departmental training opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience: At least two years of financial‑aid experience; other relevant experience may be considered.

About the Position: The salary for this position will be $45,000–$52,000 commensurate with candidate’s experience and qualifications.

This is a hybrid, exempt‑level, benefited position requiring some on‑site presence. The job is primarily sedentary and may involve occasional travel to attend meetings and programs.

This position is located on the UVA Grounds in Charlottesville, VA.
