Property Adjuster
Location:
Fredericksburg or Manassas, VA
Work Setup:
Hybrid - Work From Home + Driving Role
What We're Looking For
Minimum 2 years of Property Adjuster experience
Minimum 2 years of Xactimate experience
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to work independently and travel for inspections
College degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 6 months experience or completion of Crawford and Company basic property class, and/or continuing education requirements
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good attention to detail
Strong analytical and mathematical ability
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to handle challenging situations and people
Must be licensed as required by state and local jurisdictions; outside adjusters must have a valid driver's license
Must complete continuing education requirements as outlined by Crawford Educational Services
A variable schedule including on-call may be required; depending on case load you may be required to work beyond normal business hours when necessary
Travel may be required during/outside of normal business hours when necessary
Responsibilities
Examine claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine coverages
Investigate claims by interviewing claimants and witnesses, obtaining official reports, inspecting physical damage, and comparing claim information with evidence
Set loss reserves
Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state and federal government and by Crawford
Settle claims by determining insurance carrier's liability, client's instructions and authority levels, obtaining demands and making offers to claimants, issuing settlement checks, making filings with regulatory agencies, disposing of salvage, and pursuing subrogation when appropriate
Control claims costs
Maintain company reputation and integrity of insurance products by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards
Recommend litigation when appropriate
Present evidence at legal proceedings, producing reports and other documents as evidence
Maintain expected case load
Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education
Product supervision focuses primarily on the product being presented to clients
Conduct roof inspections as needed
Uphold the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times
Participate in special projects or perform duties in other areas as requested
