CHI Aviation is seeking a qualified candidate for a
Full-Time Technical Writer
to join our team. If you enjoy working in a dynamic environment, have a "power user" command of industry-standard layout tools, and can work with subject matter experts to turn complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation, we would love to meet you.
Responsibilities
Create and Update:
Using existing technical information, create and maintain high-quality operating manuals, checklists, forms and other documented information in a fast-paced, dynamic, FAA regulated environment.
Manage Layouts:
Follow established documented information standards to ensure consistency using unstructured Adobe FrameMaker to build organized, professional documents.
Visual Storytelling:
Use Photoshop to create and edit diagrams, screenshots, and technical illustrations to facilitate understanding of complex information.
Control and Distribute:
Use Adobe Acrobat Pro to prepare final, advanced level PDFs for distribution. Work within the document control system to maintain the integrity of company information ensuring documentation is easily identifiable, organized, current, and protected.
Job Requirements
Expertise:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (styles, templates, multi-level lists). Previous Adobe FrameMaker experience preferred. High proficiency in Adobe Acrobat for PDF optimization and form creation.
Creativity:
Ability to create visually appealing documents with a keen eye for formatting, layouts, and integrating graphics.
Skills:
Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized, process oriented. Self-starter, ability to learn and excel at new applications. Effective communication skills: clarity, collaboration, and follow-up.
Independence:
This position can be hybrid or 100% remote and requires a self-starter who meets deadlines without constant supervision.
Education and experience:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, aviation, or relevant technical field preferred and/or two or more years of experience as a technical writer preferred.
Physical Requirements
This is an office/home based position where the candidate must be able to sit for long periods of time and complete computer work.
Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally as called for.
