Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Director, Publicity to manage publicity and artist relations across North and South America. This role will serve as HBA’s publicity lead, manage PR support for Korean acts when promoting in the U.S., ensuring messaging and execution align with both global and local strategies. in partnership with our labels and global PR teams. This role will lead communication campaigns, media relations, digital and traditional marketing, events, and collaborations (with a focus on publicity, social media and digital communication) to enhance visibility and engagement. Previous experience in the entertainment/music industry is required.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in music and entertainment, with a background in record labels strongly preferred.
This person will manage our publicity strategies and artist relations and work closely as a liaison with the external PR companies that HYBE partners with, HYBE’s global and artists teams in Korea, HBA marketing, social and digital and partner with HYBE’s US and Latin label PR leaders.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Santa Monica office, with in-person collaboration 3 days per week and remote work 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications Leadership
Develop and drive a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with HYBE AMERICA’s business goals and global brand. Ensure consistent messaging and positioning across all regions, labels, and subsidiaries.
- Publicity and Artist Relations
Lead and execute tailored PR campaigns for a dynamic roster of artists across all stages of a project lifecycle. Serve as the central point of coordination for PR needs of Korean labels and artists promoting in the U.S. and Latin America. Develop and drive comprehensive publicity strategies, securing high-impact coverage across broadcast, national, regional, digital, and emerging platforms. Pitch and land media opportunities including interviews, features, performances, podcasts, social activations, press appearances and other media events.
Coordinate and oversee media appearances, photo shoots, live events, and award show participation—ensuring talent is fully prepared. Shape and communicate each artist’s narrative to expand audience reach and build cultural relevance. Create, edit, and distribute press materials including press releases, artist bios, media pitches, quote sheets, and press kits. Monitor media coverage, analyze campaign performance, deliver detailed press reports, and manage both online and offline reputation.
Manage campaign logistics including press databases, media lists, music servicing, mailings, invoicing, and travel coordination. Willing and able to travel and attend concerts, events, and evening/weekend activations as needed. Will represent HBA at concerts, events, and industry functions as needed.
- Deliverables
Define key messages, target audiences, and the most effective communication channels. Establish KPIs and metrics to measure campaign success and make adjustments as needed.
- External Communications & PR Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, journalists, tastemakers, and industry influencers. Partner cross-functionally with internal teams (marketing, digital, label) as well as artist managers and external stakeholders. Work closely with external PR consultants and with in-house PR staff across North and South America.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets (traditional and digital), influencers, and opinion leaders. Well-connected with established relationships across music, lifestyle, fashion, and digital media. Manage collaboration opportunities with brands, influencers, and other relevant organizations in partnership with other HBA constituents.
- Crisis & Issues Management
Anticipate, manage, and mitigate reputational risks, partnering with third parties as needed. Manage communications response planning and execution during sensitive or urgent situations.
Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of progressive communications, publicity, media and talent relations experience, or in the music/entertainment industry (label, PR agency, or management).
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, or related fields.
- Strong background in the music industry, ideally from a record label, with an understanding of artist relations and promotional campaigns.
- Experience working across North and South America (preferred), with sensitivity to cultural and market nuances.
- Proven ability to manage publicity efforts and external PR.
- Deep understanding of the media landscape and how to generate timely, buzzworthy coverage.
- Passionate about music culture and highly aware of current trends and conversations.
- A proactive, creative thinker who can identify opportunities and turn them into impactful campaigns.
- Track record of working in global companies, coordinating across time zones and diverse teams.
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube), metric analysis tools, and event coordination.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling, brand-aligned narratives.
- Strong executive presence and ability to advise senior leaders with credibility.
- Strong knowledge of current trends in music, pop culture, digital behavior, marketing, PR, and event strategies.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Crisis communications expertise is a must.
- Languages: English and Korean with fluency in both languages.

Salary Range
The projected salary range for this job is $130,000-$150,000. This is a good faith effort at the time of posting. This is base salary only and does not include benefits and any other compensatory components of the role.
