The Press Brake Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of CNC press brake equipment to fabricate metal components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications. This role also performs spot welding, riveting, and nut pressing operations while ensuring product quality, safety, and efficiency standards are met.
Setup & Preparation
Transport unfinished and finished materials using a forklift.
Select and change tooling and fixtures based on job requirements.
Retrieve existing CNC programs or input machining parameters as required.
Adjust mechanical gauges and verify proper calibration before production.
Production Operations
CNC Press Brake
Simulate and verify critical bending sequences.
Adjust bending sequences and gauges as needed.
Manufacture parts according to work orders and blueprints.
Stage completed parts in designated racks or carts per transport matrix.
Complete order confirmation and part identification.
Move finished goods to transport or designated staging areas using a forklift.
Spot Welding
Position parts using gauges and fixtures.
Perform spot welding per work instructions and drawings.
Grind welds and machining marks to meet finishing requirements.
Stage and document completed parts according to process guidelines.
Pressing (Nut Insertion)
Load and position blanks in fixtures.
Operate stationery press to install hardware.
Stage and transport completed components appropriately.
Riveting
Position blanks in fixtures.
Operate rivet gun to complete assembly.
Stage and transport finished parts according to system guidance.
Quality Assurance
Inspect and measure first-piece parts for each job.
Perform in-process spot checks to verify batch quality.
Use measuring tools such as calipers, height gauges, and tape measures.
Report nonconforming parts to supervisor and assist with rework procedures as needed.
Maintenance
Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance per schedule.
Complete minor repairs within scope of responsibility.
Communicate equipment malfunctions to maintenance with detailed descriptions.
