Lead UX/UI Designer Job at Renesas Electronics in Los Angeles
Renesas Electronics, Los Angeles, CA, United States
We're looking for a Product Designer who will define the next generation of tools that empower hardware engineers and manufacturing teams to innovate. This role is ideal for someone who puts users first, dives deep into complex technical requirements with curiosity, and designs intuitive workflows that eliminate friction.
As Duro scales to thousands of engineering users, you'll be foundational in helping define our product experience, establishing design patterns, and assisting in how we translate complex feature requirements into elegant, usable solutions. You will design workflows and architecture that enable hardware teams to innovate without obstacles. This role blends interaction design, systems thinking, and close engineering collaboration. You may be looking to grow as a Product Designer, or grow into Design Leadership, or Product Strategy.
A day in the life of our UI/UX Designer: Design & Research
Design clear, efficient user workflows that simplify complex engineering tasks
Conduct user observations, behavioral analysis, and research to uncover opportunities and validate solutions
Interact with customers via interviews and user testing and analysis
Create interaction models, user flows, and prototypes that define product architecture and direction
Manage a growing Design System
Collaboration with Engineering
Design and maintain robust design systems in Figma that seamlessly translate to production code
Work iteratively with engineers to ensure design intent is faithfully implemented with high quality
Partner closely with Front End and Back End Engineering teams throughout the entire design and development cycle
Document design decisions, patterns, and system behaviors to support development and team knowledge
Product Partnership
Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, and senior designers to inform feature scope and strategic priorities
Present design concepts, rationale, and workflow improvements to stakeholders
Champion user needs and maintain cohesive product experiences across the organization
Who We’re Looking For:
5+ years experience in Product Design, UX Design, or Interaction Design
Bachelor’s Degree: BA or BS in Product Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, or Engineering.
Expert proficiency with Figma as primary design tool
Proven experience implementing design systems — both in Figma and in close collaboration with Front End Engineering teams
Strong understanding of usability heuristics (Nielsen Norman Group principles)
Portfolio demonstrating workflow design, interaction design, and systems thinking
Experience designing for complex, technical, or multi-step workflows
Creative, organized, and able to work independently
Collaborative team player who brings solutions without ego
Clear communication skills across written, verbal, and visual formats
Empathy & User-Centricity: A deep understanding of user pain points and the ability to advocate for user needs.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Proven experience working with cross‑functional teams (engineers, product managers, marketers).
Communication & Presentation: Clearly articulating design rationale to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Problem‑Solving & Critical Thinking: Analyzing complex problems and generating innovative, user‑friendly solutions.
Adaptability & Iteration: Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements and iterate on designs based on feedback.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous focus on quality and aesthetic consistency.
Curiosity & Growth Mindset: A desire to keep up with industry trends and constantly improve skills.
Nice to Have:
Experience with engineering tools, CAD software, or other technical product environments
Background in hardware engineering or exposure to hardware development workflows
Familiarity working alongside technical teams in product development
Comfortable with using AI to assist with ideation and productivity
Why This Role Matters You’ll design the tools that hardware engineers and manufacturing teams rely on daily. Your work directly impacts their ability to innovate, iterate, and bring products to life. Through close collaboration with engineering, you’ll ensure thoughtful design becomes powerful, friction‑free software.
The salary range for this role is $119,000 to $152,000. Actual compensation packages within this range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate and role requirements, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
We have adopted a hybrid model that gives employees the ability to work remotely two days a week while ensuring that we come together as a team in the office the rest of the time. The designated in‑office days are Tuesday through Thursday for innovation, collaboration and continuous learning.
