Associate Producer - American Thought Leaders

Job Description
The Epoch Times is seeking a versatile Associate Producer to join the team behind our flagship program, American Thought Leaders. This role works closely with host Jan Jekielek and producer Irene Luo, as well as other members of the team, to produce three in-depth, long-form episodes per week with thought leaders, notably ones who meaningfully challenge the grand narratives of our time.
We are looking for a dynamic candidate with strong editorial instincts who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
This is a full-time, in-person position based in our Washington, DC bureau. (Exceptionally strong remote candidates may be considered if willing to travel as needed.)
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Production
- Conduct guest outreach, including email correspondence, phone calls, event attendance, and persistent follow-up
- Research guests and interview topics; propose thoughtful questions for interviews
- Coordinate filming logistics
Production
- Ensure on-set production quality and coordinate camera crews for travel shoots
- Communicate with guests both before and after episode release
Post-Production
- Review content for redundancies, inaccuracies, and inappropriate commentary (ex. ad hominem attacks)
- Identify and mark elements for removal or editing
- Collaborate with video editors to shape episodes, including selecting relevant documents, soundbites, and b-roll
- Review draft and final episodes
- Write compelling teaser scripts, headlines, thumbnail text, and episode descriptions
- Craft compelling posts across different social media platforms
Required Qualifications
- Strong research, writing, and fact-checking abilities
- Ability to discern narratives and story arcs
- Commitment to producing factual content and to abide by The Epoch Times’ editorial guidelines
- Deep familiarity with the news cycle and current events
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment and meet tight deadlines
- Willingness to work flexible or non-standard hours (including sometimes weekends) as required by the production schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Journalistic background or experience
- Production experience
- Demonstrated ability to engage audiences through social media
- Be willing to travel for shoots when needed
