WCBI-TV, the CBS affiliate in Columbus, Mississippi, is looking for its next rising star to produce and anchor our evening newscasts each weekday. Responsibilities Passionate, energetic, and able to connect with viewers on‑air; ready to break stories in the field and at the desk. Review and write scripts for newscasts and reporters, ensuring clarity, concision, and conversational style. Produce or help produce an informational, accurate, and well‑paced show. Make calls to sources, enterprise stories, and execute live shots when necessary, delivering information in an easy‑to‑understand manner. Research and tell complex stories for special reports and series. Maintain polished anchoring skills and ad‑lib when necessary. Work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, and sometimes stressful environment. Be active on social media. Appear on behalf of the station as required. Work varying shifts, including severe‑weather, election, or other impact‑news events. Mentor young journalists, develop story ideas, and lead or participate in editorial meetings. Qualifications Two years of anchoring preferred. A clean driving record is required. Experience using ENPS and Edius is a plus.
