Job Summary Serving as the Assistant Director of Environmental Services, you will assist in managing the Environmental Services Department. You will help oversee departmental operations within established objectives, standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will support the Director in financial accountability, operating within the approved budget while delivering maximum value to the client. Additionally, you will foster interdepartmental relations and integrate the environmental service department with the facility’s operations plan.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain an environment that is sanitary, attractive, and orderly.
Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise departmental functions and activities.
Conduct regular management staff meetings and communicate with members of other departments to coordinate activities.
Ensure the department is always “inspection ready,” operating within federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain excellent relations with the client and all client departments.
Serve on community committees and professional organizations.
Maintain competency by participating in community work and outside training programs, as required.
Follow all client and community policies and procedures.
Promote professional growth and development of the entire team and department employees at all times.
Implement changes to the environmental service program that enhance the desirability of the community for current and future residents.
Encourage and nurture associate creativity and innovation with the community work program.
Maintain appropriate security for all client‑owned property, supplies, and operating funds.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of three to five years of EVS/Housekeeping experience in a retirement or adult home preferred, depending on formal degree or training.
Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification highly desirable.
Excellent customer service skills and experience.
Experience with federal and state healthcare surveys.
Experience with P&L accountability highly desirable.
Contract‑managed service experience desirable.
