Student Activities Coordinator/Athletics Coach - FT
Under the general direction and supervision of the Dean of Student Development and Athletic Director, the Student Activities Coordinator manages the Student Activity program and services. This full‑time position provides leadership for wellness and oversees part‑time staff including student employees, officials, and scorekeepers for intramurals. The role prepares quarterly activity calendars, student publications, and coordinates educational, developmental, social, and recreational activities. It also facilitates the Beatrice Campus student government, assists Student Services, and supports admissions, tours, orientation, and other campus functions.
Essential Functions & Supervisory Tasks
Administer and oversee Student Activity operations and events.
Provide leadership, teach, and evaluate staff assigned to the student activities unit.
Supervise activities at the Student Center, gym, and wellness center.
Formulate, coordinate, and implement student activity programs that support campus and division goals.
Athletic Coach
Recruit potential students for the intercollegiate team.
Supervise practices, strength training, and team development.
Program Planning, Improvement, and Evaluation
Plan student activities during athletic contests with the athletic director.
Develop programs and services to improve student activity operations.
Provide formative and summative evaluation of programs in collaboration with Institutional Research.
Prepare summary reports of student activities and programs.
Intramural Program Management
Recruit participants, schedule events, monitor participation, keep records, and maintain equipment and supplies.
Staff Advisor to Student Groups and Organizations
Serve as staff advisor for Student Senate Wellness Committee and attend committee meetings.
Assist in planning and programming wellness and fitness activities.
Serve on Student Services Leadership Team.
Budget Management
Maintain and process the Student Activity budget; coordinate budget development.
Monitor expenditures and revenues; purchase necessary equipment and supplies.
Staffing Supervision
Supervise student workers for weight‑room and gym check‑ins.
Provide basic instruction on exercise equipment usage.
Basic First Aid
Provide first aid and request emergency services when appropriate.
Student Social and Recreational Activities
Organize, promote, and supervise social and recreational events.
Negotiate contracts, advertise, and supervise events and activities.
Support development of campus student organizations.
Communication & Promotion
Schedule activities and events; develop guidelines and promotional materials.
Publications
Solicit and edit news items for campus publications; prepare copy for printing and distribution.
Admissions and Recruiting
Assist in admissions and recruiting functions, including working with high‑school counselors, visiting schools, conducting orientation, and speaking to civic groups.

Experience with exercise and fitness equipment.
Ability to demonstrate equipment usage and provide instruction.
Experience promoting a positive environment and level of service.
Basic first aid and CPR knowledge.
Analysis of policies and procedures for improvement.
Experience in intramurals, student government, fitness, and wellness.
Strong written communication skills.
Computer proficiency.
Methods for motivating staff; ability to develop cohesive work unit.
Staff organization, training, direct supervision, and evaluation.
Effective written and verbal communication.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Capability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, education, student development, student affairs, educational administration, or related field.
Two years of administrative experience in student activities or athletics (a master’s degree may substitute one year).
One year of supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in exercise science, education, student development, student affairs, educational administration, or related field.
Salary $49,837 per year
