Branch / Sales Manager - Industrial Supply

Essential Functions

Accountable for all company assets of the branch location.

Responsibility for profitability of branch.

Oversee all branch sales, warehousing, pricing and customer relations.

With approval from corporate, initiate the hiring, release and disciplinary action of all employees under direct supervision.

Approve, within budgetary limits, all branch office expenditures for purchase of supplies and equipment.

Make sure customer complaints and claims are properly handled.

Responsibility for the physical plant and maintenance.

Oversee all sales activities to ensure that orders are entered, filed and priced properly.

Provide technical product information to staff and customers.

Maintain adequate inventory levels to ensure acceptable serviceability and a good turn‑over rate.

Safeguard all company assets at the branch location.

Keep management abreast of all matters pertaining to the effective operations of the branch.

Perform duties inherent in all supervisory positions.

May perform duties of an Outside or Inside Salesperson as outlined in the job description for that position.

Attend and participate in company meetings, industry conferences and conventions as requested by management.

Audit customer orders for proper pricing.

Maintain current product information and coordinate its distribution and availability to appropriate personnel.

Develop and conduct sales training.

Perform aspects of every job associated with the branch operation, as needed.

Implement company and OSHA safety policies that apply.

Experience, Education And Skills

HS Diploma or GED.

Associates, Bachelors or industry certifications in a related field preferred.

5+ years of related experience in industrial sales or distribution branch management.

General understanding of the mine supply business.

Must be able to complete the company training program.

Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with management, customers and employees through presentations and reports.

Maintain confidentiality concerning sales, pricing policies and procedures, customer lists, credit information, correspondence and other sensitive information.

Computer proficiency required and ability to learn and use company systems.

Ability to operate forklift and other loading equipment.

Use of company vehicles not requiring special licenses – a valid driver’s license is required.

Physical Demands

Extended periods of standing and sitting.

Ability to lift varying weights up to fifty pounds and carry twenty yards.

Ability to climb up and down trucks, ladders, shelving, etc.

Work Environment, Safety Requirements, Possible Work Hazards

Scheduling determined by management based on company needs.

Normal work hours 7 AM – 5 PM Monday through Friday, weekends as required.

Work in a store/warehouse environment with merchandise in various stages of resale.

Work in varying temperatures according to seasonal changes.

Responsible to follow and ensure employees follow company safety policies designed to prevent accidents and promote employee health.

Report all accidents according to company policy.

Work around fast‑paced store/warehouse while heavy and large merchandise is being moved.

Frequently work around heavy equipment.

Constant need for alertness to changes in the surrounding environment in any industrial setting.
