The Community Relations department ensures that Publix is a responsible citizen in our communities and is on the front lines each day to help address community needs. Within the department, the Manager of Community Relations acts as the face and voice of Publix by building and nurturing relationships with nonprofit organizations, leading community outreach, and organizing volunteer efforts with our associates.
Responsibilities
Coordinate external community outreach and collaborate with the media relations manager on proposed media opportunities and engagement
Create and share internal communication between Publix leadership and associates
Manage and develop support associates
Lead the Good Together food donation program execution
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, broadcasting, or English, or equivalent experience
At least five years of experience in the field of media or community relations or at least five years of retail experience
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent project management and analytical skills
Willingness and ability to work extended hours, travel, and be on-call 24 hours a day/7 day a week
Must be at least 20 years old, willing to operate a vehicle, and have driving record verified
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in communications, or continued education courses in related fields
Five or more years of retail management experience or seven or more years in the field of media or community relations
Expert Microsoft Office skills with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Intermediate knowledge of SAP system
Expert knowledge of SmartSimple system
Management skills
Knowledge of grocery industry and trends
Specific knowledge of Publix Retail Business Units (RBUs) and their functions
Specific knowledge of key community players and government officials

Year End Bonus As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
