Job Overview
Wood is recruiting for a Field Piping Jr Designer I/ Tech Professional I to join its Projects business unit, supporting brownfield surface facilities retrofits, expansions, and debottlenecking projects, primarily focused on the Mechanical Engineering Design needs. This opportunity is onsite, based in Greeley, CO, and is ideal for candidates who thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare Mechanical and Piping drawings using 2D and 3D CAD tools.
Layout process equipment systems using 2D and 3D software packages to produce drawings from concept through construction issue.
Design and model piping systems using 2D and 3D CAD software packages and produce drawings.
Formulate design solutions and layouts of Mechanical and Piping components utilizing P&ID’s, vendor documentation, and piping material specifications.
Coordinate design with other piping team members and other disciplines.
Design or select pipe support components as they pertain to piping design layouts.
Evaluate vendor equipment as it pertains to layout designs, assist with equipment specifications and orientations.
Examine and validate drawings for quality and compliance.
Examine, validate and coordinate other discipline designs for compliance with layouts.
Work with laser scanning vendors to acquire “as-built” information and integrate it into design.
Visit client plant sites to evaluate design options and take necessary site measurements.
Adhere to company and client specifications and standards.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree or 2-year college coursework preferred in Mechanical Design and Drafting.
Minimum of 1 year of 2D AutoCAD experience and 3D CAD experience is a plus.
Minimum 3 years of experience.
Knowledge or experience of piping materials and design is a plus.
Knowledge of pipe support designs is a plus.
Experience with equipment design, layout, and installation is a plus.
MS Office suite skills are required.
Experience with or willingness to learn CADWorx 3D or other 3D CAD tools.
Experience with or willingness to learn Navisworks or Design Review software.
Local candidates preferred; no per diem or relocation available.
Special Requirements / Skills
Must be able to physically move around in an industrial plant and be able to climb ladders, stairs, and access tight places.
Travel to project sites is required.
Must be able to take field measurements with tape measure and other electronic measuring devices.
Must be able to learn and perform P&ID walkdowns in the field and prepare as-built redlines for drafting.
