POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Data Strategist supports the Senior Director of Data Strategy in leading the Data & Results team and advancing a strong, aligned data infrastructure across Promise Partnership Utah. This role oversees the development and implementation of systems and processes for data collection, management, analysis, and visualization, ensuring data is accessible, high-quality, and actionable for both internal and external audiences. The Lead Data Strategist translates data into insights that inform strategy, support continuous improvement, and drive equitable outcomes. ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Team Leadership: Foster a high-trust, collaborative environment and lead data collection, organization, and reporting projects for internal and external audiences. Internal Data Strategy and Consulting: Advise on measuring social impact through data collection, analysis, governance, and strategy development. Data Management: Serve as the team’s subject matter expert on data for impact assessment. Develop new data measures and disaggregate data to enhance insights. Data Infrastructure & Privacy: Manage data collection, organization, and reporting in Salesforce. Ensure access to high-quality program data and maintain data integrity and privacy. Analysis: Analyze data using Excel, R, or other tools to generate insights, create comparisons, and support data-driven decision-making. Integrate qualitative data and equity considerations into reporting and decision-making. Visualization: Develop and manage data dashboards; train team members to navigate dashboards independently; drive strategic change through dashboards and visualizations. Reporting: Create standard and ad hoc reports to support impact reporting, proposals, and continuous improvement. Other duties as assigned, including potential supervision of interns or team members. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Technical Skills: Ability to anticipate and adopt emerging technologies; build capacity to access, understand, describe, and use data and technology platforms (Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI, Domo, Asana, Excel, R, SQL, and related tools). Data Analysis Skills: Ability to derive meaningful insights from data, compare results, and demonstrate program impact. Strategic Mindset: Guide stakeholders in leveraging data for decision-making and connect insights across teams. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication; translate data insights into clear narratives. Continuous Improvement: Commitment to learning, identifying challenges, and testing solutions. Adaptability: Navigate uncertainty and adapt skills to changing conditions. Project Management: Define project scope, resources, dependencies, steps, timelines, and manage delivery while supporting relationship management. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field. 3-5 years of data and research experience, including analysis, reporting, and visualization. Proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or Domo) with ability to create user-friendly visuals. Experience with relational databases, advanced Excel, survey design, coding, and analysis. Salesforce experience preferred. Ability to identify key quantitative and qualitative metrics to measure program impact. Proven experience managing complex data projects across teams. Strong analytical skills and ability to learn and adopt emerging technologies. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The team member must be able to communicate clearly in person and in writing, operate a computer and standard office equipment, and travel to offsite locations for presentations. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The role is primarily in-office with core hours Monday–Thursday; Friday may be remote. Utah’s Promise is piloting a 36-hour work week with Friday afternoons off. BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. Salary range: $65,000–$75,000, commensurate with experience.
