Social Media Manager
SoftShox, Vienna, VA, United States
SoftShox is dedicated to helping prevent traumatic brain injuries through innovative sports safety solutions. We are building a brand that is mission-driven, credible, and visually compelling, and we are looking for someone who can help bring that story to life online.
Role Description This is a contract role that will require in-person visits to our lab in Vienna, Virginia at least 1-2x monthly. The Social Media Manager is responsible for growing and maintaining SoftShox's presence across key social platforms. This is a hands‑on, execution-focused role. You will own the content calendar, build assets, capture new content in the field, and publish consistently across Instagram, LinkedIn, and X. Working closely with leadership, you'll help shape how SoftShox shows up online, pulling from existing image and video libraries while also bringing fresh content to life with your own camera and creativity. This role is ideal for an early‑career individual with a genuine passion for storytelling, social media, and mission‑driven work.
Key Qualities
Creative eye with a strong sense of visual storytelling and brand voice
Self‑starter who can own a content calendar and execute without heavy oversight
Comfortable both behind a camera and in front of a screen: shoots, edits, and posts
Organized and deadline‑driven, with the ability to plan a month ahead and stay on track
Collaborative partner who can take direction and translate ideas into compelling content
Curious about what works, pays attention to engagement, trends, and platform nuance
Collaborative and cross‑functional by default
Mission‑connected and genuinely excited to tell our story
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a rolling monthly content calendar, planned at least four weeks in advance
Create and publish 2–3 posts per week across Instagram, LinkedIn and X
Source, select and lightly edit existing photos and videos from the company's content library
Capture original photo and video content using your own camera in office, field and event settings
Collaborate with leadership to align content with company priorities, campaigns and announcements
Write clear, on‑brand copy and captions tailored to each platform's audience and format
Monitor post performance and share regular updates on engagement, reach and growth
Maintain a consistent visual and tonal identity across all channels
Stay current on platform trends, algorithm changes and content best practices
Build and organize a growing library of brand assets, templates and evergreen content
Champion the mission and values of traumatic brain injury prevention in all work
Qualifications Must Have
1+ years of experience in social media management, marketing, content creation or a related field
Demonstrated ability to manage and grow social media accounts across Instagram, LinkedIn and/or X
Experience with basic photo and video editing (e.g. Lightroom, CapCut, Adobe Suite or similar tools)
Strong writing skills with an eye for voice, tone and platform‑appropriate copy
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet recurring deadlines
Startup mindset: resourceful, hands‑on and execution‑oriented
Genuine interest in sports safety, health technology or traumatic brain injury prevention
Permanent work authorization in the United States
Preferred
