
Construction Estimator (Multi-Family)

The Estimator is responsible for driving company growth by securing new projects and clientele through accurate cost estimating and successful bid acquisition. This includes meeting targeted sales and profitability objectives. The Estimator performs these duties under the general guidance of the Director of Estimating.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Development & Delivery
Draft, proof, audit, and deliver proposals for both private and public sector projects.
Develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations and proposals for existing and prospective clients.
Conduct multiple concurrent bids and ensure timely delivery aligned with project deadlines.
Identify and pursue strategic opportunities within proposals to optimize Pentalon’s position in securing work.
Bid Management & Compliance
Support all aspects of subcontractor and supplier estimating and bidding processes.
Qualify sub-tier bids for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Ensure company adherence to bidding regulations and project-specific goals.
Identify, retrieve, interpret, and administer RFQ and RFP solicitations.
Systems, Software & Quality Assurance
Operate and maintain proficiency in all internal estimating systems, technologies, and software.
Minimize exposure and risk by implementing quality assurance controls throughout the estimating process.
Promptly report scope changes and revenue impacts to senior management.
Client & Industry Engagement
Promote Pentalon Construction to owners, developers, planners, architects, engineers, and other relevant stakeholders.
Increase brand awareness through client engagement, public relations efforts, and participation in professional/industry organizations.
Build and manage long-term relationships with clients, architects, sub-tier respondents, and engineering principals.
Collaborate with key personnel on business development strategies and lead generation.
Opportunity Identification & Lead Qualification
Identify new business growth opportunities across private and public sectors.
Assist in qualifying project leads from various sources (e.g., web postings, public agency listings, publications, contacts).
Route qualified opportunities to project executive staff for further evaluation.
Estimating-to-Operations Transition
Support Project Executives and Managers in procuring subcontractors and suppliers.
Assist in drafting detailed scopes of work for inclusion in subcontracts.
Present relevant bidding and award information to project management.
Facilitate the transition from estimating to field operations through document transfer and formal discussion.
Change Management & Cost Analysis
Assist APMs and PMs in analyzing and quantifying cost impacts from changes to contract scope.
Promptly report discoveries in scope and revenue to senior management.
